Tournament teams and invites

A team leader invites players, and each player joins the roster only when they accept the invite themselves.

Nobody joins a team without saying yes

In a team tournament, the leader creates the team and then invites the other players. The invite does not put anyone on the roster. Each player gets a notification and joins only when they accept it themselves. Being on a team books you into that time slot and counts toward your guild's Guild Cup score, so the choice is yours.

A singles tournament has no invites: you register yourself on the same page.

If you are the leader

Search for a member and send the invite. You can only invite someone who could sign up on their own: they need the right badge for the event, they cannot already be on a team for this tournament, and they cannot be booked into anything else at the same time.

Each invite you are waiting on holds a player spot. If your team has four places and you are on it with two invites out, you can send one more. When the team allows substitutes you can still invite subs after the player spots are spoken for.

You can revoke an invite until it is answered. That frees the spot straight away.

If you were invited

Your invites are under Team Invites in your account menu. The registration page for that tournament also says when someone has invited you. Accept to join the team or decline to say no. The leader is told either way. If the game needs a shirt size, you pick your own when you accept.

Accepting checks everything again. If you have since joined another team, booked something that clashes, or the team filled up, the accept is refused and the message tells you why. Once you join one team in a tournament, your other invites for that tournament close.

You can leave a team later from its registration page.

Invites run out

An invite expires when registration closes or when the tournament starts. You can't accept an expired invite, and it no longer holds a spot on the leader's team.

When something is wrong

  • The invite button says every spot is taken or promised. Revoke an invite you are still waiting on, or ask someone to leave.
  • You can't find the invite. Check Team Invites in your account menu. If it shows as expired, registration has closed. Ask a staffer at the desk, because staff can still register a team directly.

Field by field

Inviting a player

This sends an invite. It does not add the player to your team. They join only after they accept, and each unanswered invite holds one of your player spots until then.

Waiting for an answer

These players have been invited but are not on the roster yet. Revoke an invite to free its spot. Unanswered invites expire when registration closes.

You have an invite

Someone has asked you to join their team, but you are not on it yet. Accept or decline from your Team Invites page. Joining books you into this tournament's time slot.

Your team invites

Accepting joins you to that team and books you into its time slot. If you have since joined another team or booked something that clashes, the accept is refused. Invites expire when registration closes.
